Meet Poreyah Benton, Owner of Vegan Ahava Food Truck
Since opening in late 2019, Poreyah Benton's New Haven food truck, Vegan Ahava, has drawn a loyal fan base of plant-based eaters and omnivores alike. Her menu changes daily with popular I-can't-believe-it's-not-dairy comfort food like seitan Philly cheesesteaks, oyster mushroom po'boy sandwiches and some of the best macaroni and cheese we've had period, vegan or otherwise. Beton grew up in an African Hebrew Israelite community in Dimona, Israel, where plant-based eating has long been a way of life. The second part of her food truck's name,"Ahava", is Hebrew for "love." Eating here we always feel the love.
